Hi, I’m Jonah Fertig-Burd.
I create spaces where people connect with each other, the Earth, and themselves — through food, creativity, and cooperation — guided by love, and open to transformation.
That’s the through-line of everything I do. Whether I’m facilitating a visioning process with a cooperative, coaching someone through a turning point, cooking with community members across cultures, planting trees, making art, or sitting in ceremony, it all comes back to this: helping people find nourishment, meaning, and belonging — and through that, transforming themselves and the world around them.
The heart of my work
For over two decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of community, food, creativity, and cooperative economics. I’ve co-founded worker cooperatives, community spaces, and food networks. I’ve facilitated hundreds of meetings, retreats, and workshops. I’ve helped organizations clarify their vision, strengthen their culture, and move through conflict toward possibility. I’ve coached leaders navigating complexity, transition, and the question of how to lead from wholeness.
What ties it all together isn’t a single method or sector — it’s a belief that transformation happens in relationship. That the most powerful change occurs when people feel genuinely seen, connected to something larger than themselves, and alive with creative possibility.
I bring my whole self to this work: the coach and the consultant, the facilitator and the farmer, the cook and the community organizer, the artist and the father.

What I do
Consulting, facilitation, and coaching through InterRooted
I work with cooperatives, nonprofits, foundations, community organizations, and mission-driven businesses to help them clarify their vision, strengthen their culture, and build their capacity for lasting impact. My approach is collaborative — I don’t arrive with answers, I arrive with questions, presence, and a deep commitment to the process.
I also offer one-on-one coaching for leaders, men, and professionals navigating transition, leadership challenges, and the question of how to live and work with greater alignment and purpose.

Celebration Tree Farm & Wellness Center
My home and one of my deepest commitments. For over ten years, Burd and I have been building this organic farm and wellness center in Maine — a place for workshops, retreats, farm stays, and community events. It’s living proof that food, land, and community can heal.
Sacred Nourishment
I’m currently writing Sacred Nourishment — a book that weaves together the threads of food, creativity, Earth connection, and spiritual practice into a vision for how we nourish ourselves and each other at every level. I also offer Sacred Nourishment workshops and experiences for organizations, teams, and retreats.

Ceremonial and creative practice
I facilitate men’s groups, support people in healing journeys, create earth mandalas, make art, and hold space for creative and spiritual exploration. This work is as much a personal practice as it is an offering to others — I believe you can only take people as deep as you’ve gone yourself.
The person behind the work
I’m a father, husband, son, and brother. My family — my partner Burd and our children — is my anchor and my greatest teacher. I find deep sustenance in time in nature, meditation, friendship, and the ongoing practice of showing up with an open heart.
I believe how we do things matters as much as what we do. That cooperation is not just a business model but a way of being. That love is not just a feeling but a practice and an orientation toward the world.
